Fifteen infants with atopic dermatitis due to milk allergy were given milk with B. breve M-16V added. As a result, the proportion of bifidobacteria in the intestinal flora was increased and the symptoms of atopic dermatitis were relieved.
The anti-allergy activity of B. breve M-16V in animals was compared with that of other bifidobacterial strains and lactic acid bacteria. B. breve M-16V was found to be the most potent for anti-allergy.
