Morinaga's Bifidobacteria

Bifidobacterium longum BB536

As they are sensitive to acid and oxygen, the bifidobacterial species in the human intestine were difficult to apply to food products. However, in 1971, Morinaga succeeded to apply Bifidobacterium longum in dairy products for the first time in Japan. B. longum BB536 was isolated from a healthy infant, but the species is present in the intestines of humans of all ages.
B. longum BB536 has been available on the Japanese market for many years and has gained global recognition for applications in the manufacture of yogurt, nutritional supplements and infant formulas in over 30 countries.
The physiological functions of B. longum BB536 have been studies in the hope of discovering various benefits as probiotics that can assist in maintaining human health. The seven main efficacies of B. longum BB536 are explained here.

  • Intestinal Health
  • Prevention of Colon Cancer Risk
  • Protection against Infection
  • Anti-allergy
  • Remission of Ulcerative Colitis
  • Reducing Cholesterol Level
  • Bone Strength Enhancement

Bifidobacterium breve M-16V

Bifidobacterium breve M-16V is one of the strains in the predominant Bifidobacterium species in infant intestines. The intestinal flora of healthy infants is dominated by bifidobacteria (Change in Gut Microbiota as We Age), but in low birth weight infants, it takes longer for bifidus flora to become established.
The possible benefits of B. breve M-16V administration include preventing infectious diseases by maintaining the dominance of bifidobacteria in the intestinal flora.
Facilitating nutrient absorption and promoting the normal development of the immune system by promoting the healthy growth of the intestines.

  • Benefits for Low Birth Weight Infants
  • Anti-allergy

Bifidobacterium breve B-3

From a number of strains Morinaga discovered Bifidobacterium breve B-3 which works to inhibit obesity.
Morinaga patented Bifidobacterium breve B-3.
Moreover, a rat study confirms that Bifidobacterium breve B-3 may have the effect of preventing photoaging from UV irradiation.

  • Anti-Obesity
  • Prevention of Photoaging
